WESTLOCK INDEPENDENCE NETWORK SUPPORTED EMPLOYMENT

WIN believes for most successful people, employment, whether it be paid or volunteer, is a key element that assures their integration into community life.

Individuals in the labour force feel valued, recognized, and rewarded

WIN is dedicated to helping individuals with disabilities secure and maintain paid employment in the community of Westlock

The contract jobs created within W.I.N. are meant for individuals to allow them an opportunity to develop skills in a more controlled environment. In September 2003 WIN was awarded a contract to read water meters every two months for The Town of Westlock. Many of the individuals we support have taken on the challenge to read water meters in the ever changing weather of Alberta. Other examples of jobs created within WIN are lunch cart, newspaper delivery and janitorial.

WIN not only offers job placement but we also can provide a job coach if needed at no extra cost to the employer. The job coach may help with individual assessments, job readiness training, job matching, job carving, job analysis, and on the job training.

As the new employee gains skills and knowledge of the job, instruction may gradually be faded so that the employee performs the job duties independently. After fading support follow up services are offered to ensure that the employer and employee continue to have positive work relationship and to provide any further job training if needed.
